5 Different Color Correcting Primers You Need To Know About

Colour Correcting has been a huge trend for the past few years. The goal of colour correcting is use coloured makeup to correct and conceal any imperfections in your skin. There is a lot more out there on colour correcting concealers, which are great for little spots and imperfections. But, if you have rosacea, a lot of acne, or any other problem that covers more of your face, than you will want to try a colour correcting primer. So, below I have five different types/colours of colour correcting primers, so you can find out what the best one is for you. Ready? Lets hop in!
Color Correcting Primer

1. Purple

Purple neutralizes any yellow undertones. Therefore it is great for brightening dull skin. The primer above it the E.L.F. Mineral Infused Face Primer in Brightening Lavender ($6). E.L.F. also has a green colour correcting primer, which as you will soon learn is great for combating redness.

2. Green

As I mentioned above, green is great for combating redness, such as acne or rosacea. One option for a green color correcting primer is the Pur Mineral Correcting Primer Redness Reducing ($31). Brands such as L’Oréal and Nyx have more affordable options from the drugstore.

3. Pink

Pink may seem like all it does is conceal and not correct but it is actually great at correcting under eye circles and other dark spots. This Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Primer ($39) comes in green, purple and pink. Other more affordable options of a pink color correcting primer is offered by L’Oréal and Revlon.

4. Yellow

Yellow helps brighten and conceal purple undertones, such as sunspots and veins. Clinique offers a huge range of colour correcting primers, Superprimer Color Correcting ($27), that include colours such as purple pink and yellow. A more affordable option of a yellow colour correcting primer comes from Nyx.

5. Multi

Depending on which multi color correcting primer you get, it will have a combination of different colours. The Stila One Step Correct($20) has green, purple and pink to brighten your skin, while concealing redness and dark circles. For a more affordable option, Almay has a multi colour correcting primer with green and purple.

My Concealer Collection

I have four concealers. Some of you may think that isn’t too bad but I only every really use one. So, I wanted to clean out my concealer collection and show you all why I didn’t like certain concealers and which one is my go to. Ready? Lets dive in.

So, I am getting rid of two of my concealers, Coverstick from Essence and a really old one from Covergirl that I can no longer read the label of (and that has been discontinued). For the Essence one, it is really dry and I didn’t like how it sat on my skin. It made my pores more obvious and didn’t look good. So, that one is a pass. As for the Covergirl one, it is old and is clumpy and has a weird texture now, for one. Also, it is abit dark for my skintone, but a good colour for a light contour.

Now for what I am keeping: Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer from Covergirl and Smart Shade Concealer from Almay. As some of you may know, the Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer is my current go to concealer, and I already have a back up. The Almay one is supposed to change to match your skin tone, which is a cool concept. And it works, therefore I am going to keep it. However, my one problem with it is that it doesn’t have great coverage. So, if you have light dark circles or slight discolouration, you may want to try this, but if you really need to conceal something, I don’t recommend it.

Beauty Review #2: Stress Relief, Smart Shade, Clarifying Lotion and More!

So this is my second beauty review. I have changed the layout so tell me which one you prefer in the comments. In this review, I have a variety of makeup and skincare. I hope you enjoy and lets get started.
Beauty Review 2

1. Pond’s Dry Skin Cream ($7.89)
First of all, I just want to tell you how much I love this cream. Its lightweight, fresh smelling and super moisturizing. Its amazing if you have dry skin. I put this on after washing my face to give back some moisture. If you are looking for a good drugstore face cream, I strongly recommend this.
2. CLINQUE Clarifying Lotion 2 ($26)
Just to clarify, this is a toner. I really like this. It feels super refreshing after I put it on. I didn’t realize how expensive it was before now as I am still on my first bottle, which I got for free. This is the first toner I have ever tried, so I don’t know how it compares to other, less expensive, toners. Also, toners are super easy to DIY and there are tons of recipes out there, especially on Pinterest. So, if you are looking for a really good toner and don’t want to gamble on ones you haven’t heard of, I strongly recommend this. If not, I am probably not the best person to be recommending toners to you.
3. Physicians Formula Nude Wear Nude Glow Bronzer ($15)
This is super shimmery, especially on the first few uses. The first time I used this, I had a stripe of glitter across my face. With that being said, I now use it as an eye shadow and love it. So, as a bronzer, I don’t really recommend this but if you are looking for a good neutral eye shadow with a bit of shimmer, this is perfect.
4. Almay Smart Shade Concealer ($7.43)
This concealer is super creamy and has good, but not great, coverage. I rarely get a good night sleep, so I have really bad dark circles under my eyes. I have found that this is better then some I have tried, sometimes I can still see my dark circles after I have applied this. I recommend this if you are wanting a light coverage. If you are looking for a better coverage, this concealer isn’t for you.
5. Body Lotion Aromatherapy-Stress Relief ($14)
I don’t know if this exactly relieves me of my stress, which I have a lot of, but I love the scent. I am not really sure how to describe it but its fresh and earthy. I recommend this not for its stress relief powers but for the amazing scent. Also, Bath And Body Works often, but not always, has this on sale for $6, so if you are looking to buy this, keep you eyes open for the sales.
