The other day was the Teen Choice Awards. Like always, there was amazing style, and not-so-amazing style, making it’s way down the blue carpet. From looking at all the different outfits, I found several style lessons that I wanted to share with you. Ready? Let’s dive into the blue carpet!
How To Not Mix Patterns
Don’t get me wrong, I adore Lea Michelle. However, this outfit didn’t do it for me. The two patterns are too busy and don’t really follow the same colour schemes. I definitely respect her for taking this kind of style risk, as mixing patterns is a hard look to pull off, but this wasn’t a success in my books.
How To Successfully Match Your Accessories to Your Dress
When you have as bold of a dress as the one Sarah Hyland wore on the blue carpet, you want to keep your accessories more understated. While this usually results in neutral colours, I loved how Sarah pulled the blue from the dress for the purse and the red for the shoes.
How Not To Match Your Lipstick to Your Dress
I adore this dress and the lip colour looks stunning on Chandler Kinney. However, they don’t exactly go together. The purple is too overpowering, in my opinion, and clashes with the blue. A more neutral or light pink would have been better suited for this outfit.
How to Rock Denim Head to Toe
Denim is always in style, but recently, it has gone beyond your average jeans. Cat Deeley rocked this adorable denim dress that is casual yet just dressy enough to walk the blue carpet in. I loved how she kept the accessories simple, playing off the rustic, casual vibes of the denim.
How to Rock Runway Style
Runway style is usually too bold and out there to be able to be worn in any other circumstance. However, Ashley Benson showed up to the blue carpet rocking the same dress that Kendall Jenner strutted down the runway in at Michael Kors show back in February.
