Makeup and Skincare are both huge industries, filled with well known companies. For makeup, there is Covergirl, Maybelline, Two Faced, Benefit, and Rimmel London, just to name a few. As for skincare, we have The Body Shop, Clinque, Olay, Balea, Neutrogena and so, so much more. But there is an entire side of the industry that is unheard of. There are tons and tons of smaller brands that you may not have heard of. So, I have compiled a list of just a small few that you should take a look at. Ready to dive in? Lets go!
This Brooklyn based minimalist skincare brand believe in having the purest natural ingredients in their products, and keeping the number of ingredients low. They have a limited number of products, for example they only sell one cleanser, one toner, etc., however they have all the products you will need. What I love most about their products is that they state the number of ingredients and list them on the label of the products. Take their Hibiscus Mask. It has three ingredients, which are direct trade hibiscus, French green clay and organic lavender powder.
If you can’t tell by the name, this is a French brand. The French are well known for their skin care, so off the bat you know it will be good. One amazing thing about this brand is that they give back to the community by helping women in poverty. As for their products, it ranges from hair masks to body lotions to shower gels to lip balms to a facial scrub and everywhere in between. Also, on their website, they have tips on how to get the most out of each product.
This L.A. based brand (although it was started in Vancouver, Canada) is focused on making the purest products, and that means the packaging too. For example, their lip products are packaged in recycled aluminum packaging. Their products include, it are not limited to, mascara, in four different shades, concealer, in 6 different shades, and illuminators, in three shades. However, they specialize in lip products. They have tinted lip conditioners, lipsticks, lipstick crayons, lip gloss and lip balms. They have an extraordinary variety of colours, but my personally favourite would have to be the lipstick crayon in Karma Chameleon. It is stunning coral shade, which would have been perfect for summer!
This natural and organic cosmetics brand goes above and beyond with their products. All their products are long lasting and free of chemicals. They have every single cosmetic item for your lips, eyes and face that you will need. Also, the ingredients they use are natural and unique. For example, their eyeshadows have organic açaí berry and organic goji berry and their pressed blush has rose petal, pomegranate, calendula flower. Isn’t that cool?
